Will there be a run on Berger Cookies now?

Berger Cookies is closed - hopefully only for the time being - due to their not renewing their business license.  Or a family illness.  Who the heck knows?  ABC 2 News notes:

The company’s website, bergercookies.com, was also “closed.” The following message, in dark red, was posted for all to see Friday:
“Online order processing is currently unavailable due to family illness. We will update the site and official Facebook page as production and ordering are back online to keep you informed. We appreciate your well wishes and patience during this time.”
Let's hope they can get operations up and going soon. We can ill afford to lose this Bawlmer classic.

Fire on Charles Street!

Best wishes for the folks whose businesses were damaged in the fire on Charles Street. Donna's, My Thai, Indigma and the Helmand were all damaged, and I have eaten at all of them. I don't know enough, based on what I've seen and read. Some restaurants may be back in a matter of days, others may take a while. Let's hope they and their staffs are able to get things back up and running soon. This is a bad time for their employees to be out of a job!

Also: does anyone know about Thairish or any of the other businesses on that side of the block?

Well here's one Food Network host that won't be coming back, like, ever

Juan Carlos-Cruz, the cheflebrity from the Food Network's long-since canceled Calorie Commando, is in custody for trying to get homeless people in LA to do a hitjob on somebody. I'm guessing we probably won't see much of Mr. Carlos-Cruz anymore, not that we've seen his show much lately as it is.

The Beginning of the End...?

Yeah, we all knew about the dwindling crab population in the Chesapeake. Still, this report on the matter is too sobering.
